Native to this area (Mike Miller, forgive me if I'm wrong!), Strangler Figs are really air plants that don't just lodge in a frond or between a branch and a trunk. Rather, they ultimately take over their host plant, completely surrounding the trunk and growing to enormous proportions, until the host is oftentimes strangled right out of existence. This interesting specimen is in the early stages of devouring its host cabbage palm.
